Darell Richmond in Bloom Entry
Darell enter the Richmond Borough in Bloom School Gardening Trophy competition.
The judges came to see what wonderful work we have done on Tuesday 14th June. They made very favourable comments and seemed very impressed with what we had achieved in very little space.
Please read our entry information booklet:

Darell's Try Learners
recently met four rugby league players at The Harlequins Stoop. They had a fabulous time interviewing the sportsmen and then writing up their interviews to publish on the Try Learning website. Here is the link to view their outstanding reports

Waitrose Community Matters Project
In April, Waitrose in East Sheen is supporting local schools through its Community Matters project.  Local group School Food Matters has put forward three schools to receive funding for growing projects - our school is one of them, so please - this April, shop at Waitrose in East Sheen and remember to ask for your green tokens.   The more tokens in the School Food Matters box, the more funding we get for growing projects.

New Build Plans
Darell Primary School is due to have a building project undertaken to bring our specialist provision for pupils with moderate and severe learning needs downstairs and develop a new main entrance.
Permission for this development was granted in February 2011, following consultation with the local community, and hopefully work may start as soon as April. The intention is to complete the specialist provision in time for it to be in use for the start of  the next academic year in September 2011 and the new main entrance completed by December 2011.As a result of this project some of our internal spaces will be reorganised and additional benefits will include a new food technology area, new welfare space, additional corridor into the junior playground, dedicated studio space, new reception toilets and some alternative storage facilities.
Work on this development is due to take place during this academic year and information will be provided to the school community on progress.

Ian Whybrow, author of "Harry and the Dinosaur" books visits Darell.
The children were thrilled to meet the acclaimed author of "Harry and the Bucketful of Dinosaurs"; Ian Whybrow! All the children, from Nursery through to year 6, were entertained all day with stories, pictures and jokes, and for the older children, tips on how to become a real author. Lines of children queued enthusiastically to get their own copies of Ian's books signed. Everyone agreed that it was an enjoyable day for all!

Maths Mountain
Parent helpers have been helping children achieve the Maths Mountain Challenge, a series of tasks and activities designed to rise achievement and enthusiasm for maths. Each child will work with a helper once a week on these tasks. As children "climb" each mountain (Richmond Hill, Scafell Pike, Ben Nevis, Mont Blanc and Mount Everest), they will get special praise and a certificate in assembly.
Mountain climbing success will follow.

Netball
On 3rd March our netball team went to play against St Elizabeth's. We played one league match and one friendly match. We all had a great time.

League report (by Jordan):
Eve, Jordan, Ryan, Yasser, Eddie, Wenzde and Jennifer were all in the league match. Eddie scored a fantastic goal in the third quarter, but it was too late and we lost 3 - 1 to St Elizabeth's. Everyone on the team tried their hardest. Thank you to all of our supporters and to Miss Fox and Ms Lane for training us.

Friendly report (by Iman):
The second match was the friendly match. The referee blew the whistle and the match started. Iman, Ryan, Yasser, Jennifer, Amina, Cameron and Maya were playing. The first goal was scored by Iman in the first quarter, and the second goal was also scored by Iman in the second quarter. Ryan scored two goals and Yasser scored one goal in the third quarter. We played our best and won 5  -  0. Finally we cheered for each other and went home. Thank you to Miss Fox and Ms Lane for coaching and thank you to all of our supporters.
