Curriculum: Geography

Our children learn geographical skills to enable them to use maps of all kinds. In addition, we give them an increasing awareness and understanding of places locally, nationally and globally.

We enjoy a good range of resources for geography. Some aspects of the subject may be taught through half-termly projects. We use the local environment for first hand experiences and there are a number of trips to look at our immediate local area and also to Kew Gardens and the River Thames. In the Early Years Foundation Stage, children develop their knowledge of their local environment and look at similarities and differences of hot and cold countries.

Children in Key Stage 1 (Infants) develop mapping skills by looking at the locality of the school as well as maps and plans.
Children in Key Stage 2 (Juniors) develop skills further by looking at distant localities.
