Gifted and Talented Provision

Return to main Curriculum Page

Darell is an inclusive school that seeks to offer all children the best possible provision. This means that we rise to the challenge of the gifted and talented children that are present in every age group. All teachers have access to additional resources for children who need extending beyond the curriculum requirements. We offer exciting activities in the form of workshops:

  • the children have been offered a session art and drawing, poetry, a Carnegie medal reading group, a linguistic and poetry class working on Catullus in the original Latin.

  • Planned sessions include thinking skills, intensive literature analysis and ICT.

We also participate in borough-led initiatives that are aimed at able children such as

  • The Battle of the Books – a year long reading challenge for Year 4.

  • The London Gifted and Talented Debating group.

  • Young scientist

Finally we also feel that the Darell emphasis on visits, visitors and direct experience provides the children with enticing and open experiences that encourage depth of thought and a love of learning.
