Environment
Week 2009
Environment Week at Darell Primary school was an
opportunity to learn the importance of protecting and caring for our
planet whilst everybody, children and staff, having lots of fun.
 |
The
environment week got off to a great start when Recycler, the
rapping robot, visited our school. He taught the children the
importance of recycling our waste and explained why we need to
reduce, reuse and recycle.

The
children then took part in recycled relays and became confident
at sorting their rubbish. Year 6 participated and were

This
was just the beginning! We received many other visitors: a local
artist offered a recycled art workshop to every class, Drew
Colby brought environmental stories to life through puppetry and
the Tropical Forest Road Show gave children the opportunity to
handle an array of animals including spiders, snakes and frogs.
There were dance workshops, environmental music sessions, the
list was endless! |

Environment week was rubbish!
Literally, every class was filled with rubbish. In
reality, what a triumph. It didn’t take long for the
children to creatively transform a mountain of waste
into fantastic recycled hats and then share their
creations at the recycled fashion show.
